Before the Procedure
There are several things you can do before your procedure to get the best results from far dissolving. Here are some of the things we recommend doing ahead of your procedure for the best results…
- If you can do so without repercussions, we recommend stopping any medication seven days before your procedure. Some medications such as Aspirin, fish oil, ibuprofen and more can increase your risk of bleeding. Please do not stop any medication if you take it for medical reasons. If you’re not sure, please don’t hesitate to speak to our specialists today.
- Avoid using ‘active skincare’ products such as Retinol and AHA/BHAs, for two days before your fat-dissolving injections.
- Avoid heavy exercise for 24 hours before your appointment.
- Avoid heavy alcohol consumption for 24 hours before your appointment.
- On the day of your procedure, we advise arriving make-up free. We also suggest taking paracetamol and a non-drowsy antihistamine an hour before your appointment.
After the Procedure
You will see results after one session and full results can be seen after 6-8 weeks and can last 2-4 years. There are several things that you must do to ensure that you are getting the best results…
- Applying an ice pack to the treated area can help to reduce initial swelling. Additionally, Arnica products can help with bruising and swelling for faster results.
- Don’t wash the area or take a hot shower for up to 8 hours after your procedure.
- We highly advise against exposing the treated area to intense heat such as sunbeds, swimming, or saunas. Similarly, extreme cold should be avoided as it could affect the results.
- Avoid any exercise for 48 hours after your procedure as this could irritate the skin and impact the effectiveness of your procedure.
- We highly recommend eating extra fibre and following a low-carb, high-protein diet for 72 hours after your treatment. Steamed vegetables, fish and meat are recommended, and we suggest that you avoid potatoes and bread.
- Do not drink any alcohol for up to 72 hours after your treatment.
- Ensure that you are staying hydrated by drinking 2 litres of water a day for at least 7 days after your treatment.
- Avoid restarting ‘active skincare’ products such as Retinol, and AHA/BHAs, for three days post-procedure.
- Do not apply make-up for approximately 24 hours after your treatment.
- Avoid facials, chemical peels and laser resurfacing for 14 days after your treatment
What are the side effects of fat-dissolving injections?
There are several common expected side effects of fat-dissolving injections, however, with time and proper aftercare, these should only last for up to 14 days.
- Bruising
- Swelling
- Redness
- Tightness
- Itchiness
- Discomfort
As these side effects can last for up to two weeks, we recommend leaving plenty of time to rest and heal before any events. Any pain or discomfort should be managed with paracetamol, however, if not or if you have any worsening symptoms, please contact us immediately for advice.
Are fat-dissolving injections safe?
While there is always some risk associated with this kind of procedure, these techniques have been perfected for more than 30 years to ensure that all our therapists are fully trained and experienced in carrying out the procedures. Some mild side effects may include redness, swelling, bruising and pain.
Who cannot have fat-dissolving injections?
We don’t recommend fat-dissolving injections for people over 60 or those under 18. If you are overweight, fat-dissolving injections might not be the right procedure for you. We recommend consulting a doctor ahead of booking an appointment as, if you want to lose weight, a healthy diet and exercise is the solution.
